The purpose of the study is as follows.

5. To catalog the available resources within the library.

• SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This study is limited to the effect of the school library on the reading habits of secondary school students. Hence, it will cover all the possible secondary schools in selected Local Government Area of Delta State.

Affecting: Affecting refers to the act of producing an effect or change in something. When we talk about factors affecting public libraries, we are discussing how various elements influence the performance, services, and overall impact of the libraries.

Public Libraries: Public libraries are community-focused institutions that provide free access to books, digital resources, educational programs, and other services. They are funded by public money, typically through local, state, or federal government sources, and are open to all members of the community.

Services: Services in the context of public libraries refer to the various programs and resources they offer to the public. This can include lending books and other materials, providing internet access, hosting educational workshops, offering literacy programs, and more.

Promoting: Promoting involves encouraging or advocating for something. In the context of public libraries, promoting reading habits means implementing strategies and programs designed to encourage people to read more frequently and develop a love for reading.

Reading Habit: Reading habit refers to the regular practice of reading.
