CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The study is based on the social media structure of a chatroom forum. Chatroom forums were one of the earliest forms of social networking before the advent of the ore modern ones like Facebook and twitter. They were very simple web applications that were also lightweight. These online forums have now evolved into things like the Facebook and the WhatsApp messenger groups. In the Whatsapp Platform particularly, it is
This study then draws from that idea to create a voice chat version of a forum.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The problem here is to figure out a way to construct, design and develop a lightwigt forum with the feature of a voice chat.
1.3 MOTIVATION OF THE STUDY
The study is motivated by the need for communication and not limiting it to just text but also adding voice chat to it.
1.4 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The aims of this study include;
- Designing and implementing a multi user voice chat system
- Designing a database to store the web application details
- Securing the user details of the voice chat system designed.
The objectives of this study include:
- Examining related texts and research material in similar scope of study
- Examining the Software Life Cycle methodology that works best to implement the software.
- Finding out the best programming tools to best implement it
1.5 OUTLINE OF METHODOLOGY
The implementation of this idea and project was done with the user of the server-side programming language PHP and the MySQL database querying language. This will also be hosted as a web application on an online domain.
1.6 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The study is focused on a very simple chat system that features not just text, but audio chatting. It is not a very large application software that can accommodate millions of users but is a mere prototype that can be later scaled up.
1.7 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
It has its significance in expanding the kinds of files that is used to pass across information in forums such as these.
1.8 ORGANISATION OF THE PROJECT
The project is organized such that; Chapter One gives a brief introduction in form of the Background of the Study of online chatting system. In Chapter Two, we have a broad look at the related implementations of online forum systems. Chapter Three examines the System Architecture, the system design and analysis. Chapter Four presents the implementation of the project using necessary programming languages and development models. It also presents the result of testing carried out. Chapter Five rounds off the project work with the summary, conclusions and recommendations for future works.
